The Riggelsen Family (...) has been active within the recycling business since 1888. Following the death of Peter Fr. Riggelsen (1884-1951) the company was converted into a shareholder company in 1951.

P. Riggelsen A/S, which was owned by his two sons Hans Mathias Riggelsen (1923-1977) and Peter Riggelsen senior (1927-2005). H.M. Riggelsen managed the Toender branch and Peter Riggelsen senior managed the Aabenraa branch from 1951. Peter Riggelsen, son of Peter Riggelsen Senior and the fourth generation of the family business, joined the company and started the international era of the family company In 1975. The name RIMECO was established in July 1988 when their domestic recycling activities were sold. The company was owned until 2005 by the Riggelsen family in Aabenraa, Denmark. From 2005 until 2012 the company was part of the ELG-Haniel Group.  The Riggelsen family bought back the activities as per June 30th. 2012. Today RIMECO is back on Riggelsen hands managed by Klaus Peter Riggelsen, whereas Peter Riggelsen Senior is chairman of the board. Over the years RIMECO has developed its presence in the recycling industry and recycles waste and processed scrap in an environment-friendly way. By converting waste products into secondary raw materials, the company contributes to a cleaner environment.  The core task of the company's activities is the handling and processing of ferrous scrap, stainless steel scrap, alloys, recovery of complex metals and the supply of selected steel products. The company embraces the challenge of continuously setting new standards in the metal recycling industry.  RIMECO focuses on four points which have their consideration: service, dependability, financial support and empathy. They aim to personal and comprehensive support as the key term to success. Nowadays the company is active in whole Europe and Russia."
