Taking down 184 meters of chimney

We have now commenced the final task in our year-long effort to demolish and recycle one of Denmark’s biggest coal-fired power plants, Enstedværket in Aabenraa. Only the 184 meters high chimney is still standing, but not for long.
During the upcoming months we will dismantle the chimney bit by bit, starting with the inner steel pipe, which will be cut up in sections, appropriate for shipping and recycling. Following, the concrete shell will be dismantled and crushed for recycling.
While the job is not for the acrophobic, the view from the top is absolutely stunning! Our employees have been industrious with their cameras – check out the photos below.
